The Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the Supreme Judicial Council, launched the first training program in legal and judicial sciences for judicial assistants on September 6. The initiative includes 13 judicial assistants and runs for four months, according to a Qatar News Agency report. It aims to support legal and judicial training pathways while developing the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills of the participants.

The program seeks to enable participants to perform their future duties efficiently and professionally, the ministry stated. This effort will contribute to enhancing the quality of performance within the judiciary. It also consolidates the values of integrity, impartiality and independence, the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies indicated in its announcement.

Specialized legal and judicial topics covered in the curriculum include provisions of the Family Law, the Cybercrime Law and general and specific provisions of the Penal Code, a ministry outline showed. Additional subjects address evidence in criminal, civil and commercial cases as well as disputes arising from sales, lease and contracting agreements. The syllabus further incorporates ownership and possession claims, criminal procedures, trial principles, the civil and commercial litigation system, judicial enforcement, judicial values and traditions, and administrative law.

Participants will gain practical skills in analyzing documents and legal cases, drafting judgments and understanding Qatari judicial trends, according to the program description. The course emphasizes mastering litigation procedures in civil and criminal cases and appeals in addition to managing court sessions. It includes examining evidence and verifying the integrity of preliminary investigation procedures, the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies detailed.

This launch occurs within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Judicial Council to develop national personnel capabilities. The joint effort reflects their commitment to enhancing legal and judicial competence across the judiciary, a joint statement said. The program builds on the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies’ expanded activities, which saw trainee enrolment reach 1,100 in the first half of 2026, a 16.4 percent increase from the prior year, according to Ministry of Justice performance data.

In 2025, related judicial training institutes across Qatar prepared 1,863 trainees through various courses, the Public Prosecution’s Criminal Studies Institute reported. That total encompassed 25 courses for judicial officers with 975 participants and additional qualification programs for assistant prosecutors. Such initiatives align with broader plans that included 102 specialized courses in the 2025 legal training program, Ministry of Justice figures from earlier announcements show.
