The Supreme Judiciary Council announced the launch of electronic auctions for abandoned vehicles, machinery and equipment through the Court Mzadat application this week in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality’s Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment. The first such auction is scheduled for September 28 from 4pm to 7pm with further sessions set twice monthly thereafter. Bidders will be able to review images, models, opening prices and technical specifications for each item listed in the dedicated vehicles section of the app, which includes a live countdown to closing time.
The offerings will feature various cars and vehicles along with wooden boats, machinery and related equipment drawn from periodic removal campaigns. Between 100 and 120 vehicles are anticipated for each auction during active campaigns, according to the Ministry of Municipality. This approach follows a memorandum of understanding signed in October 2025 between the ministry and the Supreme Judiciary Council to organise and implement these judicial sales.
The Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment was created by Cabinet decision in 2021 to coordinate clearance from public areas nationwide. A campaign in Al Sheehaniya and Umm Slal last August removed 117 such vehicles in one week, Gulf Times reported. The body includes representatives from the Supreme Judiciary Council, General Traffic Department, Ministry of Finance and other agencies to ensure coordinated enforcement.
Vice President of the Enforcement Court Judge Mohammed Al-Kubaisi joined officials including Joint Committee Vice Chairman Jaber Hassan Al Jaber at the launch. Jaber Hassan Al Jaber explained that the step demonstrates the Ministry of Municipality’s commitment to modern technologies for managing abandoned items. He noted that the initiative reflects the success of government partnerships in employing shared digital solutions to develop services and enhance the efficiency of procedures.
An earlier 2022 cooperation agreement with a different digital platform had already moved some abandoned vehicle sales online to broaden participation and raise returns. The Court Mzadat app itself, officially maintained by the Supreme Judiciary Council, first appeared in 2020 and maintains more than 100,000 downloads on Google Play. It provides judicial oversight ensuring secure title transfers upon completion of purchases.
Auctions will continue to draw from ongoing removal operations across municipalities while expanding access for prospective buyers throughout Qatar. The platform eliminates the need for physical presence at traditional venues, aligning with broader digital transformation in public services. Participation requires only the application, which handles real-time bidding and item disclosure under Enforcement Court supervision.
