A report referenced by Emirates 24|7 on leaving a UAE job has outlined five core documents and records that departing employees should preserve to protect their rights and support future administrative needs. The MOHRE-registered employment contract stands as the primary item since it establishes the legal terms of employment, salary structure and entitlements under UAE labour regulations. A UAE Expert Hub overview noted that this registered version, rather than an internal offer letter, serves as the binding document for any subsequent claims or verifications.

Salary certificates or pay slips covering at least the last six months come second in the recommended set. These records provide verifiable proof of income that banks, landlords and overseas visa authorities frequently request after an individual has left the country. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation makes such documents accessible through its digital platform, allowing workers to download them before departure.

Employees should also retain their labour card or work permit documentation, which confirms official employment status during the tenure. Digital copies can be obtained via the MOHRE application even after the job has ended. This record often supports applications for new visas or professional licensing in other jurisdictions, according to multiple UAE relocation guides.

Bank statements for all UAE accounts over the preceding six months form another critical element in the checklist. They demonstrate financial history and help address any potential claims from lenders or regulators once the individual has relocated. Credit card and loan statements should be kept alongside them because outstanding UAE debts can be pursued even after departure, a point emphasised in expatriate advisory resources.

The unemployment insurance policy, known as ILOE, completes the five items when applicable. Registration details from this policy allow claims for up to AED 20,000 per month if termination occurs under qualifying conditions, with applications required within 30 days of job loss. The ILOE portal provides policy information that departing workers are urged to secure in advance.

UAE labour law under Article 13 obliges employers to issue an experience certificate at no cost when employment concludes, a requirement that complements the document-retention advice. Related checklists for permanent departure further stress obtaining visa cancellation confirmations and final settlement statements from employers to avoid complications with future residency or employment applications. These steps align with broader efforts by authorities to streamline exit procedures for the large expatriate workforce.
