The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center won five medals at the Egyphila Stamp Exhibition in Cairo, according to the Qatar News Agency. Exhibits on the postal history of Bahrain and the history of Libya stamps each received gilt medals while three other displays secured large gilt medals. The honored exhibits covered the postal history of Qatar from 1930 to 1963, the history of Nejd and Hejaz stamps from 1925 to 1926 and Lebanon covers held during World War II, the agency reported.

The exhibition ran from September 17 to 19 and was organized by the Egyptian Philatelic Society. It attracted philatelic societies from across the Arab world along with individual collectors and enthusiasts. The Qatari center sent a delegation of its stamp and coin collectors who earned outstanding evaluations from the international judging panel.

This performance adds to the center’s recent string of accomplishments on the international philatelic circuit. In August the center captured five medals at the Asian Stamp Exhibition in Bandung, Indonesia, a Qatar News Agency dispatch from that period showed. Earlier wins include three medals at the Seoul World Stamp Exhibition in 2025, Gulf Times records indicate.

The Qatar Philatelic and Numismatic Center operates under the Ministry of Culture and holds memberships in the International Federation of Philately and the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately. It actively participates in exhibitions organized by these federations to strengthen Qatar’s standing in the field. The center’s involvement aligns with its goal of promoting philately and numismatics regionally and globally.

Officials at the center have made participation in such events a priority to nurture the hobby of stamp and coin collecting among enthusiasts. By competing at high-level forums, members gain opportunities to refine their collections and share knowledge with peers from other nations. The latest medals from Egyphila demonstrate the quality of Qatari research into Arab and regional postal histories.

The exhibition in Egypt provided a platform for showcasing specialized collections that trace the evolution of postal systems in various countries. Topics such as wartime mail delays and early stamp issues from the Arabian Peninsula featured prominently in the Qatari entries. The Qatar News Agency said the center remains committed to creating favorable conditions for collectors to develop their interests and contribute to the cultural heritage dialogue.
