Qatar defeated Bahrain 2-0 in the September 24 encounter at Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium in Jeddah, the Peninsula Qatar stated. Boualem Khoukhi opened the scoring in the 61st minute while Hassan Al Haydos converted a stoppage-time penalty after Ahmed Fathi had been sent off. The result positioned Qatar second in the group behind the UAE, which had routed Yemen 4-0 earlier that evening.
