Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei visited the mausoleum housing the remains of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad on November 2, according to IRNA. The judiciary chief paid respects at the tomb situated within the Dar al-Dhikr section of the complex during the late evening hours. IRNA reported that the trip combined this act of commemoration with participation in a separate official event in the city.

Mohseni-Ejei attended the closing ceremony of the International Convention of Expatriate Mujahideen while in Mashhad, IRNA stated. The gathering drew participants focused on themes of ideological commitment and regional solidarity. Such events have become regular features in Iran’s calendar of revolutionary observances since the spring.

Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was killed in Tehran on February 28, 2026, at the beginning of a 40-day war launched through coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes, according to multiple Iranian state media accounts. The assault resulted in numerous additional casualties among military commanders and civilians across the country. Officials have described the episode as a pivotal moment that tested national resilience.

The martyred Leader was interred at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad on July 10, 2026, after nationwide mourning ceremonies that drew millions of participants, Mehr News Agency reported. Senior figures including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf joined the final prayers led by Ayatollah Khamenei’s son. The chosen burial location next to the eighth Shia Imam has since served as a focal point for continued tributes.

President Masoud Pezeshkian made a similar visit to the same mausoleum on October 24, Mehr News Agency figures show. These repeated pilgrimages by high-ranking officials illustrate the site’s growing role in expressions of official continuity. In earlier remarks carried by IRNA, Mohseni-Ejei noted that the martyred Leader’s courage and resolve remain visible in the conduct of the current leadership.

The Assembly of Experts selected Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader in early March 2026 following a period of deliberation by the Leadership Council, according to Mehr News Agency. The transition occurred amid the aftermath of the war, with the council initially managing state affairs. Iranian media have portrayed the succession as ensuring uninterrupted guidance for the Islamic Republic’s institutions including the judiciary.
