The Ministry of Health and Prevention presented its vision for an integrated healthcare system driven by artificial intelligence genomics precision medicine and supporting technologies at the fifth Healthcare Leaders Summit hosted by Forbes Middle East according to the Emirates News Agency. The two-day event which opened on September 22 2026 in Abu Dhabi featured discussions on policy innovation and the future of care. Ministry officials used the platform to outline ongoing initiatives that combine these tools to shift toward predictive and preventive models.

Al Ameeri speaking for the ministry said the UAE is expanding artificial intelligence applications in both clinical and operational decision making while leveraging the Emirati Genome Programme for disease prediction and prevention. This effort incorporates digital health solutions big data robotics telemedicine biotechnology and medical research the official continued. Al Ameeri noted that such technologies enhance the capabilities of healthcare professionals rather than replace them across prediction prevention care and treatment stages.

The UAE government maintains a framework to transition 50 percent of its sectors services and operations to Agentic AI models within two years Al Ameeri told summit attendees. In organ transplantation artificial intelligence supports allocation decisions in line with international standards and works to minimise bias. Transplant activity has benefited patients from more than 42 nationalities across six organ types through eight transplant hospitals and 19 donor hospitals with Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi among the leading centres the Emirates News Agency reported.

Sector progress relies on adaptable legislation and ethical frameworks with 39 standards and decrees issued between 2022 and 2026 according to the ministry briefing. These include amendments made in 2023 and 2025 to the organ transplantation law first introduced in 2016 whose implementation began in early 2026. The updates form part of a regulatory environment designed to keep pace with technological developments while upholding patient protections.

Health authorities have sequenced more than 850 000 genomes through the Emirati Genome Programme creating a national dataset that underpins precision medicine initiatives a figure reflected in multiple official updates tied to the summit. Related programming at the event examined the role of genomics and artificial intelligence in reproductive health including efforts to raise in-vitro fertilisation success rates from 59 percent to 80 percent by 2030. The Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has linked these targets to premarital screening genetic testing and data analytics in alignment with the national direction presented by the ministry.

The summit inaugurated by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan brought together leaders to explore chronic disease management patient experience and evolving care models according to event coverage by Zawya. PureHealth served as the official partner and its group chief executive highlighted the potential for artificial intelligence to deliver more personalised and proactive health outcomes. Discussions on the second day focused on intelligent clinical ecosystems that integrate robotics and data to improve delivery and resilience.

International collaboration and knowledge exchange featured prominently as participants reviewed pharmaceutical innovation access to treatments and strategic partnerships that support the UAE’s healthcare objectives. The ministry’s participation underscored how legislative flexibility enables the country to adopt emerging tools while maintaining ethical standards across all applications.
