The advisory comes as the UAE’s expatriate workforce navigates evolving employment rules designed to enhance mobility while protecting entitlements. Emirates 24|7 highlighted the necessity of keeping a MOHRE-registered copy of the employment contract, which outlines all terms of service and serves as primary evidence in any disagreement. The publication also stressed obtaining a final settlement statement that details payment of all dues including end-of-service gratuity.

A clearance letter confirming no outstanding claims from the employer ranks among the top priorities in the list, according to the report. This document protects workers from subsequent financial demands and is mandated under provisions of the UAE Labour Law, a legal review by Ayshams Law found. Employees should request it in writing before signing any exit paperwork.

The experience certificate, also known as the end-of-service letter, provides proof of tenure and performance without negative remarks, the Emirates 24|7 article noted. Article 13 of the federal labour legislation requires employers to issue this certificate free of charge upon contract termination, MOHRE guidelines confirm. Retaining salary certificates from the last six months further supports income verification for new applications or banking purposes.

Visa cancellation confirmation and related residency records complete the essential set, the publication reported. These papers demonstrate lawful departure from the previous sponsorship and are vital for grace period compliance or new permit applications, u.ae data shows. The official government portal advises keeping digital copies in secure cloud storage to prevent loss during relocation.

UAE private sector employment saw significant turnover rates last year, with MOHRE recording thousands of job changes monthly across key industries. The guidance arrives amid ongoing reforms that allow workers to switch employers more freely after completing notice periods, according to ministry announcements. Proper documentation has become increasingly important as authorities streamline processes through digital platforms like the MOHRE app.

Workers who fail to secure these records may face delays in receiving new visas or difficulties in claiming benefits, a PwC assessment of GCC labour markets indicated. The report from Emirates 24|7 serves as a timely reminder for the expatriate community that constitutes more than 85 percent of the UAE’s workforce, official statistics reveal. Digital versions of all documents should be stored alongside physical copies where possible.
