According to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority the 3152 inspection campaigns and visits in August uncovered multiple violations related to labour market and residency regulations across commercial sectors. The operations led to 77 detentions of irregular workers together with the deportation of 543 individuals found to be in breach of the rules. Legal measures have been applied to all identified cases as the authority works to ensure a fair and competitive work environment in the kingdom.
The authority’s data showed that 2973 of the actions were individual inspection visits to various commercial establishments in all four governorates. In addition 179 joint inspection campaigns were undertaken with partner agencies during the period. These joint efforts were concentrated in the Capital Governorate with 93 campaigns followed by 27 each in the Muharraq and Northern Governorates and 32 in the Southern Governorate.
The campaigns were carried out in coordination with several government bodies the LMRA statement said. These included the Ministry of Interior through its Nationality Passports and Residence Affairs department local police directorates the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science and the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce the Social Insurance Organisation and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority also participated in the inspections.
LMRA figures indicate that the inspections targeted compliance with the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Law and Bahrain’s Residency Laws. All observed violations triggered appropriate legal proceedings. The focus remains on protecting the stability of the labour market.
A similar operation in July saw the authority complete 3633 inspection campaigns and visits a Bahrain News Agency report from early August showed. That month resulted in comparable enforcement outcomes as the LMRA maintains its regular schedule of monitoring activities. The pattern reflects a year-round commitment to regulatory oversight.
Weekly campaigns earlier in the year produced between 1100 and 1500 inspections on average according to previous LMRA updates. Those efforts yielded dozens of detentions and over a hundred deportations per period in some cases. The cumulative impact contributes to broader compliance across commercial sectors.
The authority has provided multiple channels for reporting potential labour violations to assist in these campaigns. These include an electronic form on the LMRA website the call centre at 17506055 and the Tawasul government complaints system. Such public input helps identify non-compliant practices more effectively.
