The Ministry of Commerce reported that the total number of active commercial registrations reached more than 1.9 million. This figure includes 1.3 million registrations for establishments along with 599,000 for limited liability companies and 5,000 for joint-stock companies. The ministry highlighted leading growth in computer programming, information and communications activities as key contributors aligned with national diversification objectives.
Ministry figures show artificial intelligence commercial registrations increased 31 percent to more than 24,000. Logistics services expanded 25 percent to exceed 32,100 registrations while creative arts and entertainment activities grew by the same rate to more than 8,600. Electronic games industry registrations rose 24 percent to 977 and cybersecurity activities climbed 22 percent to 11,275 according to the ministry data.
A total of 192,000 new commercial registrations have been issued since the beginning of 2026 the Ministry of Commerce stated. The update builds on earlier quarterly bulletins that tracked consistent additions throughout the year with the total standing at 1.89 million at the end of the first quarter. The latest ministry assessment reflects ongoing expansion in the business sector.
The growth occurs as Saudi authorities have designated 2026 the Year of Artificial Intelligence to advance technology adoption and a data-driven economy according to the ministry. Virtual and augmented reality technologies saw a 21 percent increase to 13,853 registrations while entertainment and gaming activities expanded 16 percent to 9,483 the data indicated. E-commerce registrations reached 52,241 with a 9 percent gain and financial and insurance activities grew 12 percent to 16,950.
Earlier Ministry of Commerce bulletins had placed the total at 1.918 million by the end of the second quarter with more than 71,000 new registrations issued in that period alone. The five-year trend shows substantial cumulative increases in line with regulatory reforms that have eased business formation across multiple sectors. These patterns have supported broader economic participation beyond the oil industry.
