The Supreme Judiciary Council has launched an initiative to auction abandoned vehicles, machinery and equipment electronically, according to an announcement reported by The Peninsula. The auction will take place via the Court’s dedicated Mzadat mobile application through a partnership between the Enforcement Court and the Joint Committee for the Removal of Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery and Equipment at the Ministry of Municipality. This collaboration underscores efforts to clear public spaces while recovering value from unclaimed assets that have accumulated over time. The Supreme Judiciary Council stated that the process will unfold in the coming weeks with full details to be listed directly in the app.
The initiative aims to strengthen government partnerships and enhance institutional integration, the Supreme Judiciary Council said. It also promotes the use of shared digital solutions across state entities while developing electronic auction procedures that deliver greater efficiency and transparency. Such measures align with broader digital transformation goals that have seen Qatar expand online platforms for public services in recent years. Previous judicial sales through similar channels have drawn significant participation from both individuals and businesses seeking affordable options.
Court Mzadat, the official application operated by the Supreme Judiciary Council, has served as the primary platform for judicial auctions since its initial release in 2020. Google Play data places the app’s downloads above 100,000, reflecting steady uptake among users who register with a valid Qatari ID and local phone number. The platform supports bidding on vehicles, real estate, equipment and other items, with past events featuring starting prices from QR500 and increments typically set at QR500, earlier Peninsula reports showed.
In September 2024 the application hosted an auction of 107 vehicles including models from Toyota, BMW and Lexus, according to The Peninsula. That sale, which ran for three hours in the afternoon, required participants to provide a refundable deposit before bidding and allowed inspection of assets prior to the event. Similar auctions have since continued on a regular basis, offering cars, heavy equipment and distinctive license plates under the supervision of the Judicial Executions and Auctions Department.
The latest announcement for abandoned items builds on established procedures that have helped manage deregistered vehicles across Qatar. The Ministry of Municipality maintains joint committees that identify, remove and prepare such assets for disposal, a process that has expanded through digital cooperation agreements in place since 2022. Interested parties can download the Court Mzadat app from official stores and monitor upcoming listings, which typically include photographs, condition reports and inspection locations.
Registration for the forthcoming auction follows the standard protocol already familiar to repeat users of the platform, the Supreme Judiciary Council indicated through its announcement. Winners receive notifications via the app and must complete payment within the specified timeframe to secure ownership transfer. The approach ensures all transactions remain fully documented and compliant with judicial oversight, reducing administrative burdens while maintaining strict accountability throughout the process.
