Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority inaugurated the 12th edition of Dubai Design Week according to Emirates 24|7. The regional leading design festival takes place at Dubai Design District from November 3 to 8 2026 with Downtown Design as its anchor event. The programme encompasses more than 40 installations exhibitions commissions and activations together with talks workshops and public experiences that draw industry professionals and visitors. Organisers positioned the week around the ways people gather interact and experience everyday life through design.
Downtown Design runs from November 4 to 8 2026 at the district and opens to the public from November 5 according to the official Downtown Design site. The fair assembles more than 300 brands and designers from over 35 countries including international names such as Venini Ethimo and Gaggenau alongside regional participants. A dedicated UAE Designer Exhibition returns under the Inherited Futures theme spotlighting emerging local talent while the Memphis Milano presentation examines that movement’s lasting influence on contemporary work. Tickets for Downtown Design start at Dh80 for a single day.
The festival builds on the growth of Dubai’s design sector which has expanded since the inaugural edition in 2015. Previous editions have attracted around 20 000 visitors and facilitated connections across residential hospitality and collectible design markets according to event organisers. This year’s Abwab exhibition titled In Other Words explores language and meaning through design objects while Urban Commissions creates sensory installations that probe psychological aspects of space. Outdoor activations and a curated Marketplace further extend the public programme across the district.
Dubai Culture data indicates the event reinforces the emirate’s position as a global hub for creativity and innovation by supporting both established brands and independent studios. The Forum programme features keynotes and panel discussions on design architecture and creative industries within a setting conceived by local studio BONE. Partnerships with entities such as Tashkeel and the Athath Fellowship from Abu Dhabi bring forward emerging practitioners whose work addresses cultural identity and sustainable practices. These elements combine to create a comprehensive platform that spans development mentorship and commercial opportunities.
Additional highlights include a Veuve Clicquot Lounge designed by artist Yinka Ilori and a Buccellati pop-up created with British designer Luke Edward Hall according to festival listings. The event maintains free access to most of its public programming while Downtown Design operates as a ticketed fair to accommodate trade visitors and collectors. Industry figures show the Middle East contemporary design market has grown steadily with Dubai Design Week serving as the annual focal point for regional and international exchange. The week concludes on November 8 after a final day of public programming that ends at 6pm.
