The Saudi Press Agency reported Saturday that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud had issued a royal order promoting and appointing 26 judges at the Board of Grievances. The order provides for 14 judges to assume the rank of judge B through promotion and appointment while 12 are elevated to judge C. Dr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Ahaidib, who serves as president of both the Board of Grievances and the Administrative Judiciary Council, described the decision as a reinforcement of judicial cadres that will raise the efficiency of judicial work and the quality of its outputs.

Al-Ahaidib added that the administrative judiciary enjoys the care and support of the king along with the attention and follow-up of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He said the royal order confirms this backing by supporting the Board of Grievances, motivating its judges and staff in various domains, and continuing the leading path of the administrative judiciary. The Board of Grievances acts as the dedicated venue for administrative litigation in the kingdom, resolving disputes involving public authorities and private parties.

A comparable royal decree in June facilitated the promotion and appointment of 37 judges to the Board of Grievances, according to Saudi news reports at the time. The current decision arrives weeks after the Cabinet endorsed amendments to judicial regulations in September to promote stability, retain expertise and improve governance of the courts. Legal expert Dr. Osama Al-Qahtani told Al-Ekhbariya that the regulatory updates will empower the justice sector in accordance with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

These periodic royal orders form part of sustained efforts to expand the administrative judiciary’s capacity amid growing caseloads tied to the kingdom’s economic diversification. The Supreme Judicial Council has outlined roles that include overseeing judge appointments, promotions and training to maintain independence and efficiency. Al-Ahaidib has repeatedly noted that such leadership directives enable the system to adapt to evolving national requirements.

The latest appointments are expected to help expedite administrative case resolutions and support investor confidence in the legal framework, according to statements from judicial officials. Government communications have highlighted digital tools and specialized training as complementary elements in the reform agenda. Data from judicial authorities indicate that enhanced staffing levels correlate with improved performance metrics across the board.
