The Royal Oman Police carried out an inspection campaign in the Wilayat of Bausher that resulted in the arrest of 36 expatriates for violations of labour and foreign residency laws. The operation was conducted by the Muscat Governorate Police Command in collaboration with the Special Taskforce Command. All those detained are undergoing legal procedures in accordance with Omani regulations, according to a statement reported by Muscat Daily.

According to the Royal Oman Police statement, the arrested individuals included 18 Bangladeshi nationals, five Pakistanis, four Indians, four Egyptians, three Yemenis, one Iraqi and one Jordanian. The nationalities accounted for the full total of 36 people taken into custody during the campaign. Legal proceedings against the violators are currently underway, the authorities confirmed.

Public Prosecution Department figures show that labour law violations reached 22,309 cases in 2025. This compared with 12,407 such cases in 2024. Breaches of the Foreigners’ Residence Law totalled 9,493 during the year.

The department’s overall caseload climbed 19 per cent to 55,164 submissions in 2025, a report from the Public Prosecution Department indicated. Muscat Governorate recorded the largest share with 23,748 cases. The Royal Oman Police provided 38,270 of the reports received by prosecutors.

The Royal Oman Police continues to emphasise the importance of adhering to the Sultanate’s laws and regulations. The force urged the public to report any suspected violations to the relevant authorities. Such enforcement actions have been repeated in various governorates as part of sustained efforts to address non-compliance.

Data from the Public Prosecution Department placed the number of accused individuals at 73,391 in 2025, with foreign nationals comprising 47.5 per cent of that group. Electronic services processed 54,276 cases, reflecting a 19.2 per cent rise from the previous year. The department also achieved an 82 per cent score on the Government Digital Transformation Index.
