Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport Mohammed Abdullah Al-Maadeed inaugurated the second edition of the Autonomous e-Mobility Forum on September 7 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, where the three-day event is hosted by the ministry and organized by Just us and Otto Marketing Services. The Peninsula Qatar reported that the gathering features more than 40 international and regional speakers from government, industry, academia, technology and research fields. Attendees include undersecretaries from the ministries of municipality and environment along with transportation sector leaders, according to the publication.

The forum spans more than 50 keynote sessions and panel discussions across 10 dedicated tracks that address technology, policy, regulation, sustainability, infrastructure and real-world deployment of autonomous and electric mobility solutions. Building on the inaugural edition held from April 30 to May 2, 2024, this year’s program incorporates a community element with an SME Competition, Startup Showcase and 3-Minute Thesis Challenge to involve entrepreneurs, students and young professionals. The Peninsula Qatar stated that the event aligns with the Ministry of Transport Strategy 2025-2030 and Qatar National Vision 2030, both of which emphasize sustainable transport development.

Qatar Rail participates as platinum sponsor while gold sponsors include the Qatar Free Zones Authority, QTerminals, Mwani Qatar and Uber, the ministry’s partner list shows. Silver sponsors encompass Mowasalat, Elite Motors for Chery, Al Abdulghani Motors and Masar Motors for Deepal, with Qatar University as academic partner and the University of Doha for Science and Technology as applied research partner. Seib Insurance serves as insurance partner, Qatar Airways as airline partner and Qatar Tourism as destination partner, according to event organizers.

A partnership announced in September 2025 between Mowasalat and Pony AI to test robotaxis on public roads in Doha illustrates ongoing practical steps in the sector, with initial trials conducted using safety operators to adapt technology to local weather, infrastructure and traffic conditions. Mowasalat deputy chief executive Ahmed al-Muftah said the forum provides an important platform for public and private sectors along with technology providers to exchange knowledge on transportation’s future. The company will contribute through panel sessions featuring its executives on autonomous mobility from pilot projects to public scale.

In his opening remarks the undersecretary described changes in the transport sector, stating, “the transport sector has undergone a profound metamorphosis in terms of its stature and developmental role, evolving from a supportive sector into a strategic pillar of national development that drives economic competitiveness and enhances quality of life.” The Peninsula Qatar reported that Al-Maadeed also inaugurated an accompanying exhibition and received briefings on displayed electric and automated vehicle technologies. Additional presentations from the University of Doha for Science and Technology will cover future developments in unmanned aerial vehicles along with prototypes for land, maritime and aerial mobility.

The program concludes with an ecosystem tour on September 9 that allows participants to examine mobility innovations in operation across Qatar. A 2026 announcement from the Ministry of Transport indicated the forum would examine electrification of vehicle fleets and logistics networks, the role of autonomous systems in smart cities and the development of supporting digital infrastructure. More than 2,000 decision-makers are expected to attend the event, according to the official forum website.
