FlightSafety International Inc. said in a statement that it signed a definitive agreement with Acron Technologies to acquire its Commercial Training Solutions business, which includes the Training Systems, Training Services, Aviation Academy and Driver Training portfolio. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to customary closing conditions. Acron Technologies is a portfolio company of TJC LP, and the deal broadens FlightSafety’s simulator manufacturing capabilities while complementing its existing global training footprint.

The acquired business brings more than eight decades of experience in commercial aviation training and simulation according to the FlightSafety statement. CTS has delivered more than 850 training devices over its history with more than 300 full-flight simulators currently in operation worldwide. Its training and manufacturing locations across the United States, the United Kingdom and Thailand support pilot and driver training systems as well as airline academy programs.

In the announcement FlightSafety CEO Eric Hinson said “We are thrilled to welcome CTS to FlightSafety. CTS’s commercial simulation and training expertise aligns with our long-term growth strategy and will allow FlightSafety to better serve the training needs of airlines throughout the world.” David Coward, president of CTS, added in the statement that FlightSafety International is the ideal investor for the business because the two sides bring complementary capabilities, deep technical expertise and a shared commitment to delivering world-class training solutions for the commercial aviation industry.

Demand for commercial aviation training continues to increase as the global commercial airline fleet is projected to grow from approximately 28,000 aircraft in 2025 to more than 50,000 aircraft by 2045 the statement noted. FlightGlobal reported that the business now known as Acron emerged in 2025 after TJC acquired L3Harris Technologies’ Commercial Aviation Solutions division and rebranded the operation. The rebranding positioned Acron as an independent entity with a focus on commercial aviation training alongside other aerospace activities.

RBC Capital Markets LLC and Harris Williams acted as financial advisors to Acron Technologies on the transaction according to the FlightSafety release. Kirkland & Ellis LLP served as legal advisor to Acron while Baker McKenzie advised FlightSafety International. FlightSafety International operates one of the world’s largest fleets of advanced full-flight simulators at learning centers on six continents and is marking its 75th anniversary in 2026.
