The Jerusalem Post reported on October 3 that Israeli prosecutors unsealed an indictment against a 25-year-old man from Baka al-Gharbiya accused of spying for Iran. Prosecutors said the suspect carried out multiple covert missions for an Iranian handler and shared sensitive details about security at his workplace. The indictment further noted that he received payments in cryptocurrency for his activities. Authorities described the use of artificial intelligence as a notable element in the execution of his tasks.

According to the prosecution indictment cited by The Jerusalem Post, the man employed AI tools including ChatGPT to assist in performing his assigned espionage duties. The Jerusalem Post placed the case within its live updates on developments across Israel, Iran and the Middle East. Prosecutors stated that the activities spanned a period of covert operations directed from abroad.

The Jerusalem Post reported separately that US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance held a secret meeting at Camp David with senior security officials to discuss Iran and Yemen. The gathering included Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, White House envoy Steve Witkoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Gen. Dan Caine, according to Axios as relayed by the Post. Discussions centered on applying additional pressure on Iran amid ongoing regional conflicts.

In connected regional events covered by The Jerusalem Post, the Houthis claimed Saudi Arabia carried out more than 90 attacks in Yemen over a 24-hour span. Reuters reported that Saudi Arabia is preparing an offensive against the Houthis to secure shipping routes in the Red Sea and break the current chokehold. The Jerusalem Post incorporated the Houthi claims into its compilation of live updates on October 3.

The Jerusalem Post also detailed Israeli military actions in Gaza, where the IDF conducted strikes that killed two commanders from the Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket array. The operations occurred in Gaza City on October 2, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit confirmed in materials cited by the newspaper. These strikes formed part of broader ongoing activities addressed in the live updates.

Additional coverage in The Jerusalem Post live updates from October 3 addressed US efforts to intensify pressure on Iran as part of the Camp David discussions. The newspaper noted that the various military, diplomatic and judicial developments occurred against a backdrop of sustained tensions across the region. The Jerusalem Post continued to update its coverage with these interconnected stories throughout the day.
