The CMA CGM Group announced in April 2026 that it had reached an agreement with the shareholders of the Fattal Group for the acquisition of 100 percent of the Lebanese distributor. Completion of the transaction was subject to regulatory approvals and was anticipated to take place in the third quarter of 2026. The move forms part of the shipping and logistics company’s strategy to expand its end-to-end supply chain offerings in the MENA region.

Fattal Group founded in 1897 has grown into one of the leading distribution agents for international brands across the Middle East and North Africa according to details released in the joint announcement. The company operates in eight countries and specializes in the warehousing promotion and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods consumer electronics pharmaceuticals healthcare products as well as perfumes makeup and cosmetics. According to the joint announcement the Fattal shareholders decided to entrust the company’s future to CMA CGM after 130 years of family management.

Rodolphe Saadé chairman and chief executive officer of CMA CGM said in the April statement that the acquisition represents a key milestone in the group’s ambition to become a global leader in end-to-end logistics and supply chain solutions. He noted that integrating Fattal’s distribution platform would expand capabilities downstream closer to end markets and consumers while deepening presence in fast-growing MENA markets. Saadé added that the transaction reflects continued confidence in Lebanon and commitment to its long-term development.

Caroline Fattal chairwoman of the Fattal Group stated in the announcement that the shareholders had made the decision to sell following careful consideration. She expressed confidence that CMA CGM would build on the group’s success and stay true to its mission of adding value for its people suppliers and communities. The remarks came as part of the official disclosure of the agreement.

Baker McKenzie advised the CMA CGM Group on the acquisition of the Fattal Group the law firm said in a statement on August 11 2026. The Baker McKenzie team was led by Michael Doumet and Eric Lasry according to the firm’s newsroom announcement. It included experts on M&A and antitrust in France corporate and antitrust specialists in the United Arab Emirates corporate and antitrust teams in Egypt and corporate advisers in Saudi Arabia.

Data from Tracxn indicates that the Fattal acquisition represents CMA CGM’s most recent deal as of August 2026 following an average of 2.2 acquisitions annually between 2020 and 2025. The Beirut-based company was described by the platform as a retailer of consumer products founded in 1897. This transaction aligns with the maritime transport group’s broader efforts to enhance its logistics and distribution footprint across multiple jurisdictions.
