The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has introduced a proactive digital service titled the Damage Assessment Certificate that activates without any formal request from affected residents, according to the Emirates News Agency. Certificates reach recipients automatically via SMS and email once firefighting concludes, containing personal details, the precise property address and an itemised evaluation of losses caused by the blaze. Residents supply solely their Emirates ID number for the integrated identity system to populate all remaining fields, removing any requirement for supplementary documents or physical visits to offices.
Major General Yousef Obaid bin Harmoul Al Shamsi, Director-General of the Sharjah Civil Defence Authority, stated that the initiative reflects the authority’s responsibility toward the community and its commitment to supporting families affected by fires. He noted that families facing such circumstances need to focus on their safety and immediate needs while the authority simplifies related procedures and reduces the time and effort required to access essential services. Al Shamsi added that the authority continues to develop its services based on customer needs and to use digital integration to simplify procedures and reduce requirements.
The certificate is issued entirely free of charge and provides official documentation that assists with insurance claims as well as structural restoration, the authority said in its announcement. This approach builds upon an October 2026 upgrade that electronically forwards civil defence certificates to the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority for expedited power reconnection after fires. Similar free digital certificate programmes were previously extended by Sharjah Police in 2024 to individuals impacted by heavy rainfall.
Data integration across government platforms enables the automatic generation of the accredited document, eliminating duplicate submissions and accelerating access for tenants and homeowners alike. The Sharjah Civil Defence Authority has emphasised that the service forms part of ongoing digital transformation efforts within the emirate. Comparable initiatives have streamlined compliance certificates for low-risk facilities earlier in 2026 under the same strategic framework.
Affected parties receive the certificate directly regardless of their location, allowing them to address immediate recovery steps without additional administrative hurdles. The authority’s latest offering continues a pattern of proactive measures designed to lessen burdens during emergencies while maintaining full regulatory standards for documentation. Such services align with broader UAE government objectives to deliver integrated, customer-centric digital experiences across public safety sectors.
