ORIX Aviation has completed its acquisition of AerFin, the UK aftermarket specialist, from Danish private equity firm CataCap. The deal closed on November 2, 2026, after securing all necessary regulatory approvals, according to an announcement from ORIX Aviation on its newsroom. This integration allows ORIX Aviation to extend its services across the entire aircraft lifecycle, from leasing and asset management to maintenance, repair and component trading. The Japanese group’s Dublin-based unit now incorporates AerFin’s technical expertise and global network.
The transaction was initially agreed in August 2026 and had been anticipated to finalize by year end. Financial terms were not disclosed by the parties but reports placed the value at around $640 million. CataCap had been the majority shareholder in AerFin since 2019, during which the business significantly expanded its operations. Baker McKenzie advised CataCap on the sale of AerFin to ORIX Aviation.
AerFin CEO Simon Goodson said, “Joining ORIX Aviation gives us the long-term backing, global reach and shared ambition to accelerate our growth while remaining focused on what matters most: delivering trusted, flexible solutions for our customers.” In the ORIX statement, CEO James Meyler described AerFin as having built a market-leading platform supported by deep technical expertise, strong customer relationships and an exceptional management team. The acquisition is expected to enhance value creation for customers, investors and partners.
Founded in 2010, AerFin employs more than 230 people with its main base near Newport in Wales, where it relocated to new headquarters in early 2025. The firm also has sites in Miami, Singapore and Dublin serving airlines, lessors and MRO providers globally. Business Live reported that AerFin’s revenues rose 25 percent to approximately 276 million pounds in 2025 while EBITDA grew 33 percent to more than 52 million pounds.
Peter Ryttergaard, Co-Founder and Partner at CataCap, said, “AerFin has been an outstanding success story, and we are proud of what has been achieved during our ownership. The team has built a leading business through their expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering focus on its customers and people.” The deal provides an exit for the private equity firm after six years of ownership.
ORIX Aviation, a subsidiary of Japan’s ORIX Corporation established in 1991, owns and manages more than 230 aircraft leased to over 60 airlines in more than 40 countries, the company said in a statement. The addition of AerFin broadens its presence in the aftermarket, addressing rising demand for parts and services as aircraft remain in service longer. This strategic move aligns with industry trends highlighted in various aviation analyses.
