Kuwait’s Al-Yaqout & Al-Fouzan Legal Group has received four honours at The Law’s Finest Awards, recognising its commercial disputes practice, legal innovation and two members of its team.

Khalifah Al-Yaqout has been named Best Managing Partner in Kuwait at The Law’s Finest Awards, as Al-Yaqout & Al-Fouzan Legal Group collected four honours spanning leadership, commercial litigation, legal technology and emerging talent.

The Kuwaiti firm, known as YFLG, received recognition for its commercial litigation and dispute resolution team and for legal innovation and technology. Alongside Al-Yaqout’s individual award, Linda Al-Hmoud was recognised as a Rising Star in Private Practice.

The results bring together several strands of the firm’s work during a year in which it has announced a legal technology alliance, reported a substantial construction dispute settlement and expanded its participation in international arbitration networks. For Al-Yaqout, the managing-partner honour also follows separate recognition at the LexisNexis Middle East Legal Awards.

Representing YFLG at the ceremony were Al-Yaqout, partner Dr Ahmad Al-Shorbagy and senior consultants Linda Al-Hmoud and Menna Zaki.

Recognition across the firm

The four awards cover both institutional work and individual careers. The commercial disputes honour recognises a practice area central to YFLG’s business, while the innovation award adds a different dimension: how legal work is organised and supported by technology.

Al-Hmoud’s Rising Star award places a second individual practitioner alongside the managing partner in the results. The recognition therefore extends beyond the firm’s leadership to the lawyers developing their careers within it.

Responding to the awards in published remarks, Al-Yaqout credited the collective efforts of the team. He identified investment in legal professionals, the development of services and the use of technology as foundations of the firm’s work, while expressing appreciation for clients’ trust.

His own practice combines courtroom advocacy with arbitration and negotiated settlements. According to his professional profile, he handles commercial, civil and administrative matters and has rights of audience before Kuwait’s Court of Cassation. That background provides context for a leadership award received alongside recognition of the firm’s commercial disputes practice.

A second leadership honour in 2026

The Law’s Finest result follows Al-Yaqout’s recognition as Managing Partner of the Year at the LexisNexis Middle East Legal Awards 2026, whose winners were announced on 24 September.

YFLG also received an honourable mention in the LexisNexis Law Firm of the Year, Kuwait category. These were separate distinctions from the four honours at The Law’s Finest Awards.

The firm’s published work offers a more concrete view of the matters behind its disputes practice. In one announcement, YFLG reported securing an approximately KD33 million settlement for a Turkish construction company in a dispute involving Kuwait Oil Company as project owner.

According to the firm’s account of the settlement, the matter involved more than 50 subcontractor disputes following the termination of the main contractor. It also reported reducing claims exposure from KD9 million to KD3.8 million.

YFLG identified Dr Ahmad Al-Shorbagy and Ahmed Ellakany as the matter leads. The figures are the firm’s reported account of the case, illustrating the scale and multiple-party nature of the construction disputes it handles.

Legal technology becomes part of the story

The innovation honour comes in a year when YFLG has announced a more formal role in legal technology. In March 2026, the firm unveiled a strategic alliance with Lexzur for AI-supported legal practice management in Kuwait.

The announcement described systems connecting cases, contracts, legal documents and governance processes. It also outlined a phased rollout prioritising selected institutional clients, with deployment options including cloud services, locally hosted private software and on-premise installations.

These details place the initiative within the everyday administration of legal work: organising matters, tracking documents and maintaining oversight across a legal department. The announcement set out intended improvements in efficiency and decision-making, rather than published measurements of results.

YFLG has also described a separate legal education initiative with Lexzur and other partners in Egypt. Its stated plans include access to a digital legal platform for 12,000 law students and a professional qualification programme for 1,000 students.

The proposed training covers governance, risk, compliance and legal technology. Those figures are programme targets, but they show how the firm’s technology agenda extends into the preparation of future legal professionals.

A regional role for Al-Yaqout

Alongside the awards, Al-Yaqout has joined the Middle East regional representatives of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Young Arbitrators and ADR Forum for the 2026–2028 term.

The ICC’s official committee listing identifies him as managing partner of Al-Yaqout and Al-Fouzan Legal Group in Kuwait City. The forum operates through seven regional chapters, connecting practitioners involved in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

Regional representatives help develop professional networks and organise events within their respective chapters. The appointment gives Al-Yaqout a defined role in that work, connecting his Kuwait-based practice with a wider community of arbitration professionals.

It also brings a practical next chapter to the awards story. While the ceremony recognised leadership, disputes work, innovation and individual talent, the ICC mandate runs through 2028 and carries an ongoing responsibility to support professional exchange.

For YFLG, the immediate result is four honours shared across the firm and its lawyers. For Al-Yaqout, the year combines recognition of his management role with a new regional appointment centred on the development of arbitration practice.
