Baker McKenzie announced the appointment of Jennifer Parks to serve as its global chief operating officer in a statement this week on the firm’s newsroom page. Parks joins from White & Case, where she most recently held the position of chief of staff for the office of the chair in New York after spending 11 years as chief operating officer for the Asia-Pacific region, according to her biography on the White & Case website. In that earlier APAC role she managed operations across offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo while overseeing the firm’s affiliation with an Indonesian law firm.
Parks will oversee global business operations, partner development, resource management and strategic planning initiatives in the new position, the Baker McKenzie announcement stated. Her prior experience at White & Case also included five years as director of strategic initiatives in New York, where she supported implementation of a new organizational structure and long-term business plan. The firm described her as bringing more than 20 years of combined experience in law firm management, consulting and financial services.
The announcement on the Baker McKenzie website noted that Parks additionally serves as advisor and president of White & Case’s shared service center in Manila. She began her career with roles in change management at Lehman Brothers and as a senior consultant at Accenture before transitioning into legal sector operations, her White & Case profile shows. Parks holds an MBA in international business from Columbia Business School and has pursued further studies at Stanford University and IESE Business School.
Baker McKenzie has pursued several leadership adjustments in 2026, including the election of 16 new partners and three counsel in North America effective January as well as the selection of a new global chairman earlier this month, according to separate updates on the firm’s newsroom. The addition of Parks continues a pattern among major global law firms of recruiting experienced operational leaders from competitors to drive efficiency and support expansion across dozens of international offices. Industry publications have tracked similar cross-firm moves for COO positions throughout the past year.
Parks’ appointment comes as Baker McKenzie, one of the largest law firms by headcount with thousands of lawyers and business professionals worldwide, focuses on integrating its global network amid evolving client demands, the statement indicated. Her track record in aligning regional operations with firm-wide strategy is expected to prove valuable in the role, though the announcement did not detail specific priorities or a precise start date. The firm has maintained an active pace of hiring and internal promotions to reinforce its competitive positioning.
