The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development introduced the new service through the national unified recruitment platform to address situations in which domestic workers cease reporting for duty. Arab News reported on February 15, 2026, that the feature covers both contract termination due to work interruption and associated labor mobility processes. The development forms part of continued updates to domestic labor procedures, according to the Saudi Press Agency. Officials indicated that the system provides structured pathways while maintaining established worker and employer protections under existing rules.
Workers whose contracts end within the first two years of arrival must finish final-exit procedures inside 60 days. Those present in the Kingdom for more than two years may transfer to a different employer or secure a final exit visa during the same period. Failure to meet the deadline counts as an absence from work together with a breach of regulations, the ministry announcement stated. The framework applies uniformly to individual employers using the Musaned interface.
The Musaned platform operates as the primary digital channel for domestic worker recruitment, visas and contract oversight. HRSD performance data from 2025 placed beneficiary satisfaction with its digital services at 95.86 percent. The same figures show the platform delivered a 40 percent reduction in recruitment timelines during that period.
Domestic labor relations have operated under a dedicated regulation since 2017 that requires written contracts and defines termination conditions including probation periods. The fresh service supplies an online mechanism to record interruptions and execute terminations in line with those provisions. HRSD statistics separately placed the overall labor force participation rate at 68.2 percent in the first quarter of 2025.
A 2026 GCC Domestic Worker Salary Report listed the median monthly live-in pay for Filipino maids at 1,900 Saudi riyals. Salaries for other nationalities ranged lower depending on experience and origin country. The governing regulation further assigns repatriation costs to employers in cases of contract completion or certain terminations.
Employers file termination requests directly on the platform when workers stop appearing. The system then generates required documentation for the selected procedure. This digital route builds on the platform’s existing 24-hour availability for related household employment services.
